Golf balls are usually divided into distinct categories or groups. There are multi layered balls that are commonly either three piece or four piece balls. There are two piece balls which are known in the golf world as the traditional ball to use for distance. The Multi layered balls These balls have a core section, a mantle section and the cover. The three piece and four piece balls are usually an expensive ball and they tend to be more accurate. The balls in this group have a higher spinning rate than the two piece because they are softer and when hit, they will spin more. Why?
Well, the layer called the mantle transfers some energy to the layer called the core allowing for a higher spin rate. This is very different from the two piece ball. With different club usage one can control how the spin-off helps with the shot.
The two piece ball This ball will travel and it is made of a core and a cover. These balls will provide the player with a clicking noise upon contact with the club since they are not as soft. But no matter what speed the ball is swung at with the club it will travel with very little side spinning action and with a tendency to go in a straight line. This usually happens no matter where they are struck in relation to the heel or the toe of the golf ball. These balls are better for new players to buy since they are cheaper than multi layered golf balls.
Still, what ball should you get? Do you know what type of player you are yet? What do you want from your golf game; what do you want to become? If you want accuracy and control in the ball try the three or four layered ball. If you want travel and distance straight away off the tee then go for the two layered ball.
